Home Inspector Training – Questions & Answers

Maryland Home Inspector Training DiplomaWhat is Everyday Home Inspector Training?

Everyday Home Inspector Training is a Maryland-based education program designed to prepare students for a career as a licensed home inspector. Our program combines structured coursework, real-world instruction, and hands-on experience to meet Maryland licensing requirements and prepare students for success in the field.

Is this program approved for Maryland home inspector licensing?

Yes. Our curriculum is designed to meet the Maryland Commission of Real Estate Appraisers and Home Inspectors (MCREAHI) education requirements and prepares students to sit for the required third-party licensing exam administered by PSI Exams.

What does the training program include?

The program includes:

  • Video-based lessons covering all major home inspection systems
  • Live Zoom classes for discussion and Q&A
  • A comprehensive student workbook
  • In-field ride-alongs with licensed home inspectors
  • Exam preparation and real-world inspection guidance

What topics are covered in the course?

Students receive instruction in:

  • Maryland Standards of Practice
  • Report writing and inspection ethics
  • Roofing, structure, and exterior systems
  • Plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems
  • Insulation, ventilation, and moisture control
  • Fireplaces, appliances, and interior components

How long does the program take to complete?

Completion time varies by student, but most complete the classroom portion within a few weeks. Ride-alongs begin after passing the course exam and are scheduled based on availability.

Is there an exam?

Yes. Students must pass an internal course exam before starting ride-alongs. After completing all requirements, students must pass the PSI Home Inspector Exam to qualify for Maryland licensure.

Do you help with exam preparation?

Absolutely. We provide test-focused instruction, review materials, and practical insights based on real inspection scenarios to help students feel confident going into the PSI exam.

Do I need construction or inspection experience?

No prior experience is required. Our program is designed for beginners as well as those with construction, trades, or real estate backgrounds.

Are ride-alongs included?

Yes. Ride-alongs with licensed Maryland home inspectors are included and provide hands-on exposure to real inspections, report writing, and client interactions.

Is this an online or in-person course?

The coursework is online, with live MS Teams sessions and in-person ride-alongs to ensure students gain both knowledge and field experience. You will receive well above the required curriculum.

Will this help me start my own inspection business?

Yes. In addition to inspection training, we share real-world guidance on:
